1896 Heese, E. collects Astrophytum ornatum at Mineral del Monte: HIRSCHT, K. (1896): Aus der Gesellschaft der Kakteenfreunde, Monatsschrift f. Kakteenkunde Band 6 (3) Seite 46. Real del Monte is called wrong as a location for Astrophytum ornatum again and again. It may have his cause into this that Ehrenberg worked there. Ehrenberg himself writes: "...Bei Mineral del Monte kommt er nicht vor...(/ at Mineral del Monte it does not exist)": EHRENBERG, C. A. in SCHLECHTENDAL, D. F. L. (1847): Beitrag zur Geschichte einiger mexicanischer Cacteen, Linnaea 19 (3) page 357.
