Astrophytum myriostigma near Las Tablas, San Luis Potosí

The area around the railway station Las Tablas (1200 m above sea level) on the railway line Cd. San Luis Potosi - Tampico has a very special Astrophytum myriostigma population that is characterized by a very large variation in habit. One can see white plants, sparse flocked to almost nude specimens, sharp- and round ribbed plants and a surprising variety of rib numbers. Conspicuous are often dark areoles in the upper part of the body.
