Astrophytum coahuilense at the Cerro Bola, Coahuila and surrounding

First news of Astrophytum coahuilense at the Cerro Bola came from Purpus, J. A. in the year 1911. He writes that he found this "white form" of Astrophytum myriostigma at the station Bola, from 3 to 4000 feet altitude (1). This prominent place on the edge of the Desierto de Mayran (2) was subsequently often visited by cacti lovers and unfortunately also by collectors, so the population was reduced very much.
(1) This refers to the former railway station "Bola" on the line Torreon - Monterrey.
(2) Before draining the name was "Laguna de Mayran". This expression is found still in today's Mexican maps sometimes.
