Distribution and habitat of Astrophytum capricorne
From Saltillo, Coahuila, northeast to Bustamante, Nuevo Leon, east to La Rinconada, Nuevo León, west of Parras de la Fuente addition to nearly Villarreal, Coahuila, and north to Cuatro Ciénegas. The sites at an altitude from 1300 to 1400 meters above sea level are usually dominated by brown, metamorphosed limestone, but sometimes there are also habitats that are mixed with light rock.
