Astrophytum capricorne v. minus (Runge & Quehl) Okumura habitat

Between General Cepeda and La Rosa, Coahuila, north to the territory of the Sierra de la Gavia at an altitude of 1000 up to 1400 meters above sea level. Sunlight heats the dark rock in the natural habitat during the day very strong. On cold winter nights, sometime with ground frost and snow, is this "natural floor heating" a great advantage for the Astrophytum capricorne v. minus, perhaps even existentially crucial.

Habitat La Rosa:
Looking at the various locations of Astrophytum capricorne v. minus, the first place to name is the area west of Saltillo between General Cepeda and La Rosa. Along this north-south axis small hill formations raise in east-west direction from the plane. Between brown to almost black limestone blocks fine bright sedimentary rock is deposited with a low humus content. The plants grow on the hills or in the adjacent plane about 1,420 meters above sea level.

Accompanied plants:
Cnidoscolus urens, Coryphantha poselgeriana, Echinocactus horizonthalonius, Echinocereus stramineus, Epithelantha micromeris, Fouquieria ssp., Hamatocactus hamatacanthus, Hechtia ssp., Larrea tridentata, Mammillaria pottsii, Lophophora williamsii, Opuntia microdasys, Thelocactus bicolor, Agave lechuguilla.
