Astrophytum capricorne at Acatita, Coahuila

On the south side of a gentle hill at about 1150 m above sea level Astrophytum grows here in a dense population on sandy-marly floor into the plain. There are some powerful plants, with a length of 40 cm at 12 cm in diameter. The hairy scales are thick and white. In particular, the tendency to reduce the spines is striking, though many copies are bumped. At one plant was a single, withered areole be found in a rib groove, on all individuals, many flowers and fruit residues, but without seeds. The ribs of these Capricorne are sharp, some interesting waved.
